MIT BOATHOUSE

Cambridge , Massachusetts

The first point of measure for the project was the racing shell. At close to sixty feet in length, it required a transformation of traditional spatial metrics. Space was first given to boat storage, resulting in a large hangar. The programmatic spaces flank and cap the hangar.

The building is moored via two planks that allow both building occupants and boats to freely permeate the building. Circulation wraps the building via double-loaded corridors.
